Hi, I’m a mum/step-mum to four fabulous children, each with their own distinct personalities, joys, and challenges. This blog is mainly about one of them, my son, who experiences the world slightly differently from his siblings and peers.
My son is wonderfully unique. From being a small baby, he has never quite ticked all the expected boxes, and probably never will. He sees the world in his own unique way. This difference brings challenges to him and those around him, however, this also allows us to occasionally experience his extraordinary insights. Parenting him has been the hardest challenge in my life and, also, the most transformative.
This ‘space’ was created by my dear friend, Lois, who I’ve known since middle school. Over the years, she’s been a constant in my life, and more recently, as I’ve navigated the more complicated and difficult parts of parenting a neurodiverse child, she’s been an incredible source of support. I felt alone, unheard and helpless for so long but her understanding has made me feel stronger and more positive about the future.
Here, I’ll be writing honestly about our journey, the small wins, the meltdowns, the joy, the doubt, the learning, the laughs and all the messy spaces in between. I’ll be sharing my story and how his differences shape and impact the rest of our blended family. 😊
